About us
We offer science-based advice and verification of carbon dioxide removal to companies, governments and other organizations committed to climate change mitigation.
Our story
We started this company after realizing that many carbon offset programs are not based on scientific data. We found out that many climate-conscious businesses struggle to assess the impact of carbon offset and removal programs due to a lack of tools and expertise. Clearly, the carbon market needs science-informed climate change mitigation solutions.
The climate cannot wait. To limit warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels, we must not only cut emissions but also remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. While we currently emit about 40 gigatons of CO2 per year, we only have 20 gigatons of natural carbon sinks. As a result, 20 gigatons of CO2 remain in our atmosphere each year.
One gigaton = one billion tons = 1.000.000.000 tons of CO2 every year!
As experts in atmospheric sciences, we felt duty-bound to act.
In 2021, we founded Climate Analytics Finland – an impartial provider of climate impact advisory and carbon dioxide removal (CDR) verification services dedicated to helping businesses meet their science-based net-zero targets.
Inspired by the incredible measuring capabilities of research supersites such as Finland’s SMEAR stations, we meticulously designed our climate analytics algorithm, which powers our verification methodology, to produce the most precise real-time carbon cycle analysis. In doing so, we believe we are setting a new science-based standard for CO2 removal verification.
In a carbon market riddled with shaky assumptions, guesstimates and greenwashing, we can offer a scientifically sound and impartial CDR verification service that produces accurate real-time measurements and credible removals forecasts.
Our mission is to help forward-thinking customers validate the effectiveness of their carbon dioxide removal efforts in order to advance and quantify carbon neutrality programs. Our aim is also to contribute to desperately needed standards for science-based CDR verification for the industry to follow and for legislators to codify, thereby bringing credibility, trust and integrity to the carbon market.
